I had the DMR key included (I believe it was discounted at time of purchase). Last year, just under one year into the warranty, my wife started her car while the scanner was plugged into the car for power. It shut down and would not power back on. I noticed the SDS100 has a dedicated battery pack so that is a buzzkill compared to AA batteries I'm used to. I will be required to purchase an extra battery and charger. Adding WESCOM and STARCOM21 seem to give me way more than I need, but when reading multiple posts, I'm getting confused on what to do.When the Software Defined Scanners came along with uniden punching through the market with their flagship SDS100/200 I thought it was worth a shot . That will give you a small pop-up menu where you can either enable all Service Types on, or turn all of them off (Disabled).Solder the red wires together and to pin 5, Black wires together and to pin 1, Green wires together and to pin 2. I soldered wires to the three pins on the USB plug first and then soldered the 3 different sets of wires to the leads. Solder the bare wires together. Of the other two, the top one is 4.8 amps, and the second one is 4.8 amps, or if using both ports, 2.4 amps per port. It never had a lock, it had a text field in the display available but never functioned. There were some users that were seeing the keypad lock on the SDS100 actually functioning through the Sentinel software in the early versions. As noted elsewhere, it was taken out in later Sentinel versions. SDS100 is a good radio if you can find one available, the SDS radios are the only consumer scanners that are successful with simulcast Distortion secondary to LSM. They work great on simulcast systems while other radios will have difficulties. There have been some quality control issues with a series of specific problems.That's the weird thing, I unplugged the SDS100 and used the new cable instead of the one that came with the SDS100. Alternately any USB charger will power and/or charge the SDS100 battery. If you have a smartphone or other USB device charger you can use it if you don’t want to use the charger that came with the radio. In the car you can use any USB port to power/charge the radio. However, I will offer this... with the SDS100 there is/was a heat concern (the heat is still present but the concern may have diminished). The radio will heat up when on. .
