So I ride a bike and carry the saw on my back - so saw weight is an important factor. For the most part, I use a Stihl MS260 Pro, which accepts bars from 16 to 24. usually I rock it with a 20, chisel tooth.I would be able to share all 16-24" bar on either saw without issue, as long as the 501p only had the 20-24" bars for added reach on little stuff. The bow bar was used extensively by the US Forest Service Hotshot fire fighting had crews in the south west in the '80s because it was very effective for cutting scrub, chaparral and other large brush to clear fire line. I have not seen any crews with these bars in a long time, not sure why..
